MOTO AND AUTO GEAR FOR THE RIDE, THE DRIVE AND FOR LIFE
For a long time we looked for motorcycle gear that was designed for everyday riding-but also looked good off the bike. We weren't looking for "vintage" or "retro", buying into somebody else's vision of a "lifestyle", but for something that would represent our own: A taste for the juxtaposition of classic, minimal and modern with a timeless feel and updated fit, honoring the past but looking into the future. We also noticed that the retro yet modern new wave of custom moto builds had no gear to match!
Eventually, we had to stop looking and built it from the ground up, just like the bikes we ride. The result is an uncompromising, self-validated and tasteful motorcycle product with minimal branding and design: You see it, you must have it. And so, what you find here is not the end of our search, only the beginning of Pagnol.
THE PAGNOL STORY AND INSPIRATION
When it began, Pagnol was the creation of Paulo Rosas, owner of the design and marketing studio www.SpeedMachinesDesign.com. The name came to him during a very personal moment of change and inspiration in his life: The forthcoming birth of his son, and the launch of his new company and brand. One day, while looking through the dictionary for words and ideas, he stumbled upon the name "Marcel Pagnol" the French Novelist and filmmaker. His son now is Marcel and the brand....Pagnol.
Later, when exploring new ideas at Pagnol, the M1 jacket emerged from a crazy series of intersecting interests with James Yang, owner of www.hammerbeast.com. The M1 jacket is geared towards the everyday rider, but its function and distinctiveness were thought of while at a trackday at Willow Springs International Race Way.
Rosas and Yang realized they shared a common vision. They both wanted to create a product with a tasteful, modern, yet timeless feel that had an updated slim fit and inspired by the spirit of the new wave customs scene.
Between Paulo's design experience in MotoGP, AMA and CEV Repsol, moto apparel and gear design to fashion design and development for the likes of James Perse, Helmut Lang, tour wardrobe for Korn, Marylin Manson, Chris Cornell ( So long Superunknown ) and James's industry media, custom motorcycle design and building and retail experience, this has resulted in an extraordinary and complementary collaboration that pushes to the limits in our offerings.
The M1 jacket was prototyped and modified through a series of iterations, reaching the form we now present. It was the culmination of many calculated and informed design decisions that helped us set our direction. Later, the M2 was created as a more modern/architectural model. Now, we are offering the M3 Pant and M4 gloves.
